Device for connecting a first label ribbon (12),which moves in a conveying direction and has a support strap (16) on which labels (18) are affixed and which has a splinter strap (24) with a bottom adhesive surface at its end and a second label strap (14),which has a carrier band (16) on which labels (18) are placed, comprising a first cover unit (32) for the first label band (12) and a second cover unit (36) for the second label band (14),which is located below the first load unit (32) and a low holder for the first label band (12),comprising a split head (46) which is positioned in relation to the conveyor direction of the first label band (12) fixed behind the first load unit (32) and together with a bearing surface of the second load unit (36) defines a split column (44) the height of which is due to the double thickness of the support bands (16) the label tapes (12, 14),the thickness of the labels (18) and the thickness of the splinter band (24) is defined and through which the labels (12, 14) can be supported.
