Food processing apparatus for the cutting of foodstuff comprising a first larger cutting means 11 and second smaller cutting means 15 with respective maximal external diameters, 12 and 16, and minimal internal diameters, 13 and 17, about respective central axes. The maximal external diameter of the second cutting means is greater than or equal to the minimal internal diameter of the first cutting means. Preferably, both cutting means comprise a plurality of helical cutting formations, 21 and 22, formed around central hollow portions with the direction of sweep of the cutting formations of the first cutting means being oblique in relation to that of the second cutting means. The first and second cutting means may be mounted such that they are rotatable about their central axis, encouraging the movement of foodstuff through the cutting means. There is also a method for processing foodstuff, using a first cutting means to make an initial cut, forming a preliminary shape, and second cutting means to make a subsequent cut in the preliminary shape.
