The aim of this invention is to teach how to make a rotary knife 10 for cutting web materials and the related production method. The rotary knife 10 comprises a body 11 and at least one blade 15 having a plurality of layers 151, 152, ..., 15(n-1), 15n in which it is possible to identify a first layer 151 and a last layer 15n and wherein the plurality of layers 151, 152, ..., 15(n-1), 15n has a tungsten carbide concentration increasing from the first layer 151 to the last layer 15n and/or a nickel concentration decreasing from the first layer 151 to the last layer 15n of the blade 15.
