The invention relates to a system for providing a gaseous fuel, which comprises a low-temperature tank for receiving the fuel in its liquid aggregate state achieved by cooling, and a rail which is fluidically connected to at least one injector device for dispensing gaseous fuel into a combustion chamber. The system is characterized in that it has a pressure accumulator designed to take up gaseous fuel, which can be fluidically connected to both the low-temperature tank and the rail in order to temporarily store gaseous fuel originating from the low-temperature tank and feed it to the rail.
