The present invention relates to a formed body for use as a carbon fertilizer for aquatic plants comprising a biodegradable polymer matrix and a biodegradable carbon source, wherein the biodegradable carbon source is embedded within the biodegradable polymer matrix. The present invention further relates to the manufacture and use of such a formed body.
