The present invention relates to an acrylic resin for hair dressing obtained by emulsion polymerization of a suitable monomer composition [I] and a monomer composition [II] in order to obtain a hair dressing excellent in a balance between styling performance (hairdressing performance, rehairing performance, tactile property) and to-be-cleaned performance. As an emulsion, the following conditions (i) to (iii) are satisfied: (i) at least one of the monomer composition [I] and the monomer composition [II] contains a (meth)acrylate-based monomer; (ii) The glass transition temperature (Tg2) obtained by the formula of Fox of the polymer polymerized using the monomer composition [II] is obtained by the formula of Fox of the polymer polymerized using the monomer composition [I] temperature is more than 30°C above the glass transition temperature (Tg1); (iii) The mixing ratio (weight ratio) of the monomer composition [I] and the monomer composition [II] is monomer composition [I]: monomer composition [II] = 50:50 to 99:1.
