The invention relates to a rotor for an electrically excited synchronous machine, a synchronous machine with such a rotor and a motor vehicle equipped therewith. The rotor has several poles around which an excitation winding is wound. In a cross-sectional plane perpendicular to a central axis of rotation of the rotor, in which the rotor rotates in normal operation, the poles are each asymmetrically shaped with respect to a respective angle bisector, which runs in the cross-sectional plane in the radial direction through the respective pole and bisects it in the intended direction of rotation .
