The invention provides a method for projecting light into the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle (10). This method comprises the steps of providing a light projector (1) and an image sensor (8) inside a motor vehicle (10), projecting a test light pattern (3) on an interior surface (11) of the vehicle, detecting the projected test light pattern (3) and using the data of the detected light pattern to modify certain projection parameters of the light projector (1). The invention also provides an automotive light projector (1) and an automotive projection assembly.
