The device (100) for preventing gas leaks from a compressor (54) at the interface between two gas transportation networks comprises: - a compressor seal (55), - a gas engine (50) driving the compressor, - a pneumatic booster (30) provided with an expansion chamber (17) and a compression chamber (23), - a first gas pipe (31) between an upstream network and an inlet (18) of the expansion chamber (17), - a second gas pipe (32) between an outlet (19) of the expansion chamber and the gas engine, and - a gas pipe between the compression chamber (23) and the mechanical seal of the compressor. A barrier gas is compressed in the compression chamber and then injected into the mechanical seal to prevent gas leaks, or a gas escaping from the mechanical seal is collected and then compressed in the compression chamber, and then discharged to the downstream network.
