The present invention relates to a turbine (42) for a water flow energy converter (40) comprising five blade systems (82) arranged in radial directions perpendicular to a shaft (44) of the turbine (42), each blade system (82) comprises at least two blade pieces (88) arranged in series, and the at least two blade pieces (88) are mounted on rotation axles (89) that are parallel with the shaft (44) of the turbine (42) and are spaced from the turbine shaft (44) by different distances, such as to allow rotation of the blade pieces (88) around the rotation axles (89) in a first rotation direction (i) with respect to an initial position (A) and to block counter rotation in a second counter rotation direction (j), and the blade pieces (88) of the same blade system (82) are arranged, in their initial position (A), along a straight line connecting the shaft (44) of the turbine (42) with a perimetric point of the turbine (42). The invention further relates to a water flow energy converter comprising such a turbine (42).
