PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of thread cast-off and stitch skipping in an actuation cycle of a first stitch, in a sewing machine including a balance for capturing and pulling a needle thread by traversing the needle thread.SOLUTION: A balance 7 which a sewing machine 1 includes traverses a thread guide 4 of a needle thread 200 and captures and pulls the needle thread 200. This sewing machine 1 includes a shutter 820 having the thread guide 4 in a deep part and moving so as to be interposed in a groove path 41 in which the needle thread 200 is hooked. This shutter 820 is interposed in the groove path 41 when the needle thread 200 is hooked.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
