PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forging press that can maintain temperature of dies at a high value suitable for forging.;SOLUTION: The forging press comprises: a slide 18 for holding one die 3; a frame unit for supporting the slide so as to allow advancement and retraction of the slide so that the slide moves the one die toward and away from the other die 4; a drive mechanism 100 for providing advancing and retracting movement to the slide; a controller 90 for controlling a drive source of the drive mechanism; and temperature detection units 57, 58 for detecting temperature of at least one of the one die and the other die, or temperature transferred from at least one of the one die and the other die. On the basis of the temperature detected by the temperature detection units, the controller controls the drive mechanism, adjusting one or both of: contact time for which both of the pair of dies are in contact with an object to be formed; and contact frequency with which both of the pair of dies are in contact with the object to be formed.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3;COPYRIGHT: (C)2019,JPO&INPIT
