A method of improving the efficiency of a Rankine cycle by reducing shear loss, wherein in the case of a Rankine cycle having a reheat cycle, the temperature of the reheat steam is lowered or the reheat steam system is removed, and in the case of a Rankine cycle with regenerative bleed, the main and lowering the temperature of the steam and increasing the humidity of the main steam.
