equipment (1) for drying materials, in particular biomass, such as sewage sludge,with one or more drying surface pairs (2), each pair of drying surfaces (2) having an upper drying surface (2a) and a lower drying surface (2b) over which the drying material can be extracted,where each pair of drying surfaces (2) is assigned a conveying device (3) with conveying elements (4) to convey the material over the drying surface (2a) and the drying surface (2b) which circulates around the drying surface (2a),where the upper drying surface (2a) and the lower drying surface (2b) as well as the conveyor device (3) and its conveyor elements (4) are so designed and aligned, the conveyor elements (4) are moved in opposite directions to convey the material over the upper drying surface (2a) and to convey the material over the lower drying surface (2b);where the upper drying surface (2a) is so arranged relative to the lower drying surface (2b) that the material falls from the upper drying surface (2a) after extraction over the upper drying surface (2b) for subsequent extraction over the lower drying surface (2b) from the upper drying surface (2a) to the lower drying surface (2b);characterized by:the device (1) has a housing (11) enclosing the drying surface pairs (2) with their associated conveyor devices (3);where the housing (11) has one or more air ducts (12) and one or more air ducts (13) so arranged that the air is driven to dry the material by the device (1), where the air supply (12) or air supply (12) is an air supply heater (14), in particular have an air supply heat exchanger for heating the air supplied.
