Mechanisms and methods for reducing CPU power upon interruption of supply power are described. In some embodiments, the device may include an input to receive an indicator that the supply voltage to the computer system has been interrupted. The apparatus may include an output that provides an indicator for reducing the processor power consumption level. The apparatus may also include circuitry to establish an indicator for reducing the processor power level based on the indicator that the supply voltage to the computer system has been interrupted.
