The present invention belongs to the technical field of sealing materials for subterranean engineering, and particularly relates to a highly expandable grouting material for highly efficient sealing of water gushing in karst pipelines, and a preparation method, method of use, and application of same The grouting material comprises high molecular weight polymer particles A and a cross-linking and curing liquid B. The high molecular weight polymer particles A have an embedded core-shell structure, wherein a primary high molecular weight water-absorbing resin serves as the core, and part of a gelling catalyst adheres to a surface of the core forming the shell, and part of the gelling catalyst penetrates into the core forming an embedded structure. Prior to use, the high molecular weight polymer particles A are stirred in the cross-linking and curing liquid B until sufficiently mixed. The resulting mixed solution can then be injected as a grouting material into fissures in a fracture zone of a rock mass. The grouting material of the present invention can efficiently treat high-pressure and large-flow karst water gushing, improve and increase gushing sealing efficiency, and further facilitate major subterranean engineering constructions.
