Provided is swimwear which satisfies the stretch characteristic, strength, ease of movement and the like required for swimwear, has superior water repellency, and reduces friction resistance between the swimwear surface and water. The woven fabric for swimwear according to the present invention has a woven structure in which core yarns are composed of elastic fibers, and covering coated threads having synthetic fiber filaments as a sheath yarn are arranged in at least a part of warp and weft yarns, wherein, in a weave diagram, the warp yarns or the weft yarns have more floating yarns. The proportion of resistance yarns perpendicular to a length (body height) direction of the swimwear is no greater than 40%, where the length (body height) direction is the direction with more floating yarns. The woven fabric is suitably used for swimwear.
