The invention relates to a hydroelectric power station for the generation of electrical energy from hydroelectric power and a method for the generation of electrical energy from hydroelectric power. It is the object of the present invention to provide a hydroelectric power station with enhanced efficiency and increased energy output in comparison to the state of the art. To solve this object a hydroelectric power station (2) with at least one water loop circuit (20), a hydroelectric power system and a method for the generation of electrical energy from hydroelectric power using at least one water loop circuit (20) are suggested.
