PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for maintaining a complex denitrification reaction of an anaerobic ammonium oxidation reaction (Anammox rection) and a hydrogen oxidation denitrification reaction for a long period.SOLUTION: This invention provides a method for treating water containing ammonia nitrogen using a microorganism carrier immobilized with Anammox bacteria and hydrogen oxidation denitrifying bacteria which comprises the steps of: (a) maintaining hydrogen supply into the water containing ammonia nitrogen so that nitrate nitrogen concentration in the water containing ammonia nitrogen becomes lower; and (b) keeping restricting the hydrogen supply into the water containing ammonia nitrogen so that the nitrate nitrogen concentration in the water containing ammonia nitrogen does not become lower. In the steps (a) and (b), pH of the water containing ammonia nitrogen is maintained in 6.5 to 8.7 and temperature of the water containing ammonia nitrogen is maintained in 25 to 42°C.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
