The digital microfluidic device includes a thin film transistor drive substrate. The thin film transistor drive substrate is derived from the first base substrate, a plurality of sample actuating units, a plurality of sample position detection units, the plurality of sample actuating units, and the first base substrate of the plurality of sample position detection units. It includes a dielectric insulating layer located on a distant side and a first hydrophobic layer of the dielectric insulating layer located on a side distant from the first base substrate. Each of the plurality of sample actuating units comprises a first electrode configured to drive the transport of droplets on the digital microfluidic device.
