PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophilic coating material, a hydrophilic film, aluminum fins and a heat exchanger. The hydrophilic coating material of the present invention is a hydrophilic coating material in which an alkaline silicate compound, inorganic compound particles and a swelling layered silicate are added to a solvent, and the swelling as an inhibitor of sedimentation in the hydrophilic coating material. The ratio of the sex layered silicate is in the range of 0.1 to 10% by mass. The hydrophilic film of the present invention is characterized by having an alkaline silicic acid compound, inorganic compound particles, and a swelling layered silicate. [Selection diagram] Fig. 1
