5072. Challis, C. E. Feb. 28. Measures of capacity.-Relates to detachable handles for measures &c. Fig. 1 shows a form suitable 'for saucepans &c. The handle consists of one or more stout wires A, adapted to encircle the vessel, on which they are secured by the screw-clamp C. The ends of the wires may be gathered together to form a handle, or they may be joined by a socket B, or inserted in a haft. The ends of the wires may encircle the vessel, or may enter lugs F thereon, the wires being retained in position by their elasticity or by the clamp C. The entire handle, or the projecting part only, may be made of flat metal instead of round wire.
