Dyes, artificial.-Bromoindigo white, which by oxidation is converted into bromoindigo, is produced by acting upon indigo white with bromine. According to the proportion of bromine used, the product has the composition of dibromo- or monobromoindigo, or of a mixture thereof. An example is given, in which a paste of indigo white is treated with bromine, and the bromoindigo white produced is oxidized to bromoindigo by the action of the excess of bromine and the air.
