19,961. Greg, E. W. Sept. 12. Sp i n d l e apparatus.-Consists of a brake for ring- doubling spindles. The brake lever H has its fulcrum O on the spindle rail D, and is provided with an end I lined with leather or other facing K, which is pressed against the wharl C of the spindle A by the attendant pressing against the projecting end M provided with a stop V. By this pressure the wharl C is brought against the leather or other lining J on the underside of the metallic bar L, and the spindle is stopped for " piecing" and other purposes. The bar L is carried by alternate fixings N, P secured to the rail D. The fixings N are provided with pocket ends to receive the bar L, which is secured in open ends in the fixings P by pivoted levers S. The bar L also serves as a stop to prevent the spindle A and its sleeve B from being raised from the bolster R, secured in the rail D by a nut G, when the bobbin is removed.
