Collectors.-Relates to trolleys used on electric tramcars and like vehicles and has for its object to cause the trolley pole automatically to take up a safe position along the line of travel when the trolley wheel leaves the wire. Fig. 1 shows a sectional side elevation of the arrangement. The link H is connected at its upper end to the short arm I of the rolley pole J and at its lower end to the tube G. This tube has inclined projections d at its upper end, which can actuate a sliding block K shown enlarged in Figs. 3 and 4. This block K moves in a cylindrical piece B, which is fixed to the tube D and can move vertically. when the block K is not pressed back into the recess a. The usual spring is placed between the block B and a pin F fixed to the end of the tube G and passing through a slot 0 in the tube D. At the end of the tube D is fastened a block L' made in the form of two helical wedges, which, when the tube D is raised, move so as to fit into two similar fixed wedges L.
