Improvements in Clips Employed in Tentering Machines for Stretching, or Finishing, Textile Fabrics.

Stretching and tentering.-The upper jaw of a tentering-clip is pivoted with the gauge-finger 3 and its lever arm 3a to a rod 2 on the frame 5. By the operation of a spring-pressed lever 7, a projection 7b thereon is brought against a crosspiece 6c on the bell crank 6, pivoted at 4 to the frame 5. At the same time, the spur 7a engages and lifts the arm 3a and thereby the finger 3 and jaw 1. A support 6d retains the jaw in its uppermost position. When the finger 3 falls through the opening in the plate 8 which supports the fabric, the arm 3a is withdrawn from the arm 6a of the bell crank, and the latter falls, removing the support 6d from the lever 1a attached to the jaw 1. The latter then grips the fabrics. The shape of the levers 6, 7 may be modified.
