Chenille for carpets, curtains, and like fabrics is composed of a series of tufts of yarn 5, which are looped round a ground thread or threads 1, 2 and are bound together in a row by two threads 6, 7 embracing each tuft. The binding-tbreads 6, 7 may be crossed, looped round one another, or looped round one another and round the ground thread or threads between the consecutive tufts. The tufts may be of different colours or shades, so that they form a pattern when the chenille strips are assembled to form a carpet &c.
