5901. Br³nler, O. H. U. March 10. Burners, applications of.-Atmospheric nitrogen is oxidized by feeding it into a furnace together with compressed oxygen and combustible gases. The combustion chamber d is enclosed in a vessel a which is partly filled with water. Oxygen and nitrogen are fed in by the pipes e, while combustible gases enter by the pipes h. The flame from the mouth f of the combustion chamber penetrates into the water in the outer vessel, and nitric acid is formed.
