5752. Fengler, H. March 9. Watering-carts.-A motor - driven watering - cart in which the water is expelled by an air-pump driven by the motor under control of the driver, is fitted with a spraying device which enables any width of road to be sprinkled. The air-pump 8 is driven, at the requisite speed through gearing 6, and the compressed air forces, the water from the tank 10 through the exit pipe 16 to a semicircular. spraying-disk 17, which can be rotated in a casing 18 by means of a handle 12 and chain 14 engaging a sprocket-wheel 15 on the rotating inlet to the disk. Rotation of the disk by a given amount to either side excludes some of the spraying-holes on that side, with the result that the opposite side of the road is left unsprinkled to a corresponding width. The motor may work a pump for filling the tank from a river or pond. The substitution of a hose-pipe for the sprayer enables the machine to be used as a fire-engine. A valve may be placed in the outlet pipe 16.
