Stoppers. -Relates to a machine for applying liquid jointing-material to the rims of lids or bottoms of preserve cans, prior to securing the lids or bottoms to the can bodies by metalseaming or other operations. The machine may be used also for securing joint-rings to the rims of can lids or bottoms. The lid &c. to be operated upon is placed on a table c, which is rotated by means of a friction clutch b thrown into engagement by a pedal a. A spring - controlled pivoted hand-lever d, which carries a cement tank i and a train of cement-transporting wheels h, g, f, e, is then moved so that the wheel e applies cement to the rim of the lid. A joint-ring may be placed by hand over the cemented part and pressed down by a spring piece p carried by a spring-controlled pivoted hand-lever k.
