8882. Noble, E. J. April 23. Shoots. - An apparatus for d i s - charging hoppers &c. comprises a curved duct made in two parts, of which a movable part f telescopes over a fixed part c. The arrangement is such that when the movable portion f is in its extended position as shown, the discharge orifice is beyond the angle made by the material in repose. By telescoping, the two parts of the material may be discharged at any desired rate. The movable part f is suspended from brackets and is operated by rack and pinion gearing q, r. A pawl and ratchet are provided in connexion with the shaft s so that the duct can be fixed in any desired position. The discharge orifice is closed by a door k, which is held in position when the duct is moved by a chain o. A tight joint is made between the fixed and movable parts by flanges e, h.
