Composite springs.- A coiled or spiral leather strap C is attached by a slotted bracketAto the shuttlebox of a loom, and carries at its free end an adjustable leather check F, which passes over the spindle H, on which the picker slides, and serves to check the movement of the shuttle when it enters the box. A steel spring d1 is used to deaden the impact and to open out the coil when the check is released. To prevent the check F from being brought violently against the end of the shuttlebox, the end d2 of a leather strap d may abut against the free end c of the strap C, the two ends of the strap d may abut, or a stop may be arranged on the strap C.
