Dec. 2, Dredgers.-Relates to an arrangement in suction 'dredgers, barges, &c. for draining-off water from the dredged material during the filling of the hold therewith. The water escapes through the perforated portions 9 of pipes 6, and then flows into the box keelson 8, which communicates with the external water through openings 7. When the hold is full, water is also drained off through upwardly-extending perforated side walls 10. The side walls of the straining-devices 9, 10 are formed of metal gauze tightly enclosed between perforated outer and inner wall portions, the holes in the outer wall portion tapering inwards towards the gauze, and the holes corresponding thereto in the inner wall portion tapering outwards away from the gauze.
