6579. Maples, C. March 16. Seed and plant protectors. - Cloches for French gardening are made wholly or partly of strips of wood, known as " chip." The strips are interlaced, crossed, or plaited into round, oval, oblong, square, hexagonal, pyramidal, or other shapes, and may be wire - stitched, clamped, nailed, glued, or dovetailed at the joints. The sides may taper towards a flat top, which may be of chip or of waterproofed gelatine, web, celluloid, glass, or other translucent or transparent material. Some or all of the walls may be of solid wood or of papier mÔchÚ, and a handle may be fixed across the top. The cloches may be dyed red or other colour. Specification 18,105/05 is referred to.
