Fan-light opening and closing apparatus.-Relates to operating-apparatus comprising a pinion 8 mounted on the window 2 and working on a rack 6 preferably pivoted to the frame 1. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the window 2 is operated by means of a ring or handle 12 on a rod 10 pivotally mounted on the window, and having a catch 13 kept in engagement with the pinion 8 by means of a spring 14. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the operating- handle 12a is carried by a vertically movable rod 16 having a pin-and-slot connexion with the window at its lower end, and formed as a catch 13a at its upper end, which is kept in engagement with the pinion 8 by the spring 14.
