8918. Freeman, G. T. T., and Wills, F. H. April 16. Heels.-The heel P of a boot is made with a recess in which a metal case J is fitted. An india - rubber bladder A, which is either provided with an inlet valve through which it may be filled with air, or, after having being filled with air, is hermetically sealed, is placed in the case and is held in position by projections of solid rubber at each end engaging recesses in the case. The inlet valve tube may constitute the projection at one end. The bladder A is covered by the sock H.
