Combinations of interdependent valves; casings.-In an arrangement in which steam is dried and superheated by throttling in one or several sets of emergent-divergent nozzles, the nozzles are shown in Figs. 2 and 3 as applied to stop valves. In Fig. 2, the nozzles are shown mounted on the casing 2 of the piston valve 4, which is arranged so as to uncover in succession the rows of nozzles. The spindle of the valve 4 also carries a valve 5 for controlling the passage of steam from the boiler D to the space around the casing 2. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, two valves 14, 16 are mounted one on the other and are operated together, the valve 14 being opened first and then the valve 16. The opening of the valve 14 also opens the piston valve 18. The closing of the valve 18 is effected by a projection 25 on the valve 14 engaging a collar on the valve 18 as shown.
