10,555. Lytton, E. July 21. Firing-appliances applicable generally.-Consists in holding the firing-pin at cock by toggle mechanism, means being provided for breaking the toggle to fire the gun. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the firing-pin e is held cocked by a sear g mounted to slide on a rod h and held in the rear position by a toggle j. The toggle is broken by a laterally sliding member n having an inclined surface o acting on the middle joint of the toggle, and also having a booked part p to prevent accidental movement of the toggle. The sear g is pressed rearwards by a light spring l. In a modification, Fig. 3, the sear g1 is mounted to rotate. In another modification, Fig. 4, the sear consists of a toothed wheel q engaging a rack on the underside of the firing-pin.
