Dust, confining in industrial processes; filtering.-Apparatus for separating air carrying dust &c. from grain or granular material and separating the dust &c. from the air comprises an inner vessel in which the grain &c. and air are separated, the grain &c. falling into a hopper below, and an outer annular vessel or vessels ccntaining filter tubes and having below it a dustreceiving and discharging hopper outside the grain hopper, the interior of the sleeves being open to the dust hopper and the chamber bottom outside the sleeves being closed. Air carrying the dusty grain is delivered by a pipe 2 into a chamber 1. The grain falls down the conical bottom, and is discharged by an outlet valve 4. The air carrying the dust flows into the upper part 16 of the casing and is diverted into filter tubes 7, depositing its dust and passing to branches 25 of an outlet pipe 24. The dust is shaken from the filters at intervals by a lever 20 and falls down a conical bottom 21 to a discharge valve 23. The annular chamber containing the filter tubes is divided into two parts, and is closed at top and bottom by plates 9, 10. The upper ends of the filter tubes are carried by rings 14 suspended by rings 15 of flexible material from the plates 9, the rings 14 being carried by arms 18 from the shaking device. The outlet branches 25 are valved and communicate each with one half of the filter tubes, so that either half may be excised from the air circulation and shaken to clean the filters.
