Gas-discharging weapons.-The paying opening 14 of the cashiers' room of a bank or like building is protected by a screen 22 which, as it reaches its lowest position, operates a lever 37 and frees a spring-pressed plunger 33 in a cylinder 29 containing tear gas or similar fluid. The cylinder is provided with an outlet pipe leading to the exterior of the cashiers' compartment; a valve normally closes this outlet pipe, but it is lifted when the shutter engages a rod 38. The screen also, as it reaches its lowest position, completes a circuit operating audible or visible alarms arranged at the window of the building or in a police or like station.
