Grinding interfitting parts together.-Apparatus for grinding cylinder covers and heads, valve seats, and other interfitting parts comprises a shaft a having thereon a bevel pinion d and a sleeve carrying two bevel pinions e. The pinions d, e drive two shafts g, the two pinions e serving to obtain reverse rotation of one of the shafts, and the shafts carry discs h having therein slots in which are mounted adjustable spherical pins i. The pins i engage connecting-rods B, which at their outer ends carry, between springs m and washers n, bolts o which are secured to one of the pieces of work, thereby moving this over the fixed piece. The path in which the work moves is controlled by adjustment of the pins i, by the direction of rotation of the discs h, and by guides. Abrading-material and oil are used in the grinding. The faces of the work being ground may be horizontal, vertical, or inclined.
