Alternating-current induction machines.- Magnetizing current is supplied to the rotary or stationary secondary winding of a polyphase motor from the brushes of a separately driven exciter of the commutator type. The motor may have an auxiliary polyphase winding for starting. The exciter may supply the secondary winding of the second motor in a cascade set.
