Signs. - In signs or vehicle number plates of the type comprising an elongated wedgeshaped casing closed at the front by an apertured or stencilled sign plate and containing at the wider end a lamp, a mirror 16 is so arranged at the narrow end as to reflect the light on to and along the inclined back 26. The apertured or stencilled sign plate 17 is backed by material 29 having small perforations, to which material isolated parts of the symbols are attached. The front 17 and the inclined back 26 of the casing may be removable. The plate 17 may be composed of interengaging sections having inturned vertical edges 33. Fig. 9, which may be crimped or flattened together. Alternatively the sections may be secured together by wires 34 which are twisted, soldered, or otherwise fastened to one another. The top and bottom edges 36 of the sections are bent over to secure the corresponding portion of backing material 29.
