Projectiles.-Relates to aerial and other bombs, grenades, hand torches, smoke candles, and like devices, especially intended to produce smoke or lachrymatory effects, and adapted to be ignited by a primer comprising a composition (such as a mixture of gunpowder and shellac) damped with spirit or other fluid and inserted in a hole in a washer. According to the invention, the internal periphery b of the hole c in the washer a is serrated, toothed, or otherwise increased in length above that of a circle to minimise the danger of the composition falling off when it shrinks on drying, and to improve its priming action.
