[Class 70.] Tubing made of rubber and the like is split longitudinally to provide overlapping portions which are bevelled as shown in Fig. 4 to give an even joint. The interior of the tubing may be coated with an adhesive and protected by a strip of glazed linen 8 which preferably extends beyond the edge of the tube as shown at 8a and which is removed prior to the application of the tubing to the surface to be covered. The tubing may be made in long or short lengths, and rings, sleeves, and collars may be cut therefrom. The tubing may be extruded or moulded in split form, or the splitting may be done after the formation of the tube. The tubing may be used to cover joints in electric cables, luggage grids of motor vehicles, brake wires &c.
