431,997. Arc lamps. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES., 72, Schandauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. March 1, 1934, No. 35875. Convention date, March 15, 1933. Divided out of an application under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 17, 1934. [Class 39 (i)] In a projection arc lamp, the current conducting means for the positive carbon comprise a plunger adapted to press the carbon against an abutment which is adjustable so that carbons of different diameters may be mounted with their axes in the optical axis of the lamp. The abutment may be a vertically adjustable prismatic holder 5 against which the carbon is pressed by a plunger 4 actuated by a weighted lever 7. The weight 8 is adjustable on the lever arm to enable the pressure of the plunger to be varied. The holder is supported from the base of the lamp through an insulating layer 12. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a support rigidly connected to and insulated from the base of the lamp so as to hold the carbon in a fixed position and the use of gravity controlled clamping means for the carbon. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
