[Class 18] A holder for cosmetic, rouge, lip-stick, crayons, pencils, &c. of metal or alloy or other material and of circular or polygonal crosssection, comprises, in the form shown in Figs. 3 and 11, a sheath 1 slotted at 3 and containing a stationary annulus 17 with inclined slots 16, a movable annulus 6 carrying an actuating stud 7 and a socket 4 for the cosmetic &c., and a plate 13 which normally covers the slot 3 and prevents movement of the annulus 6 by the engagement with the annulus of shoulders at the lower end of the plate 13. A cap 8 which normally closes the open upper end of the sheath 1, is pivoted through holes 11 to the housing 1 and also to the plate 13 so that when pressed in the position shown in Fig. 11, pins 15 on the plate 13 move down slots 16 so that plate 13 moves inwards and releases the annulus 6 which can then be raised by the stud 7. In the form shown in Figs. 13, 15, 16, 17, the slot 3 is obturated by a slide 13 which rests on a spiral or-other spring 21 and is pressed down by the shank 9 of the cap 8. The cosmetic &c. is held in a carrier 4 having a pin 5 passing through an inclined slot 22a of a rotatable sleeve 22 and through a straight slot 20a of a fixed sleeve 20. Pins 11 on an arch-shaped yoke 10 carrying the cap 8 also pass through slots 22a, 22b and 20b, 20c in the sleeves 22, 20 respectively. Downward movement of the cap 8 from the position shown in Fig. 13 rotates sleeve 22 and extrudes the pencil carried in the holder 4.
