An improved process of preparing products from c, c-disubstituted barbituric acids and 1-phenyl-2, 3-dimethyl-4-dimethylamino-5-pyrazolone capable of being formed into tablets

Compounds of C : C-disubstituted barbituric acids and 1-phenyl-2 : 3-dimethyl-4-dimethylamino-5-pyrazolone are prepared in a form capable of ready conversion into tablets by melting the components together in the molecular ratio of 1 : 2 at water-bath temperature, with the addition of 10-20 per cent of their total weight of water or of a dilute aqueous solution of gelatin or agar-agar, after which the mass is cooled, granulated and dried. Examples are given of the use of diethyl-, diallyl- and phenylallyl-barbituric acids.
