Convention date, March 13, 1937 [Class 15 (ii)] Crape and mat effects are' produced on fabrics comprising cellulose esters or ethers by treating with a solution of a metallic perchlorate. In an example, a taffeta fabric havmg cellulose acetate warp and mixed cellulose acetate and viscose weft is treated in a 25 per cent aqueous solution of calcium perchlorate, rinsed and dried ; the fabric has shrunk, developed crap appearance and become elastic. Magnesium perchlorate may also be used.
