[Class 106 (iv)] [Also in Group XVIII] An indicating mechanism incorporating a light projecting system which may be associated with weighing, measuring or other apparatus embodying basic unit indicia (such as weight or volume) and correlated unit indicia (such as price values or computations) is characterised by a stationary light projecting system and a traversable light projecting system, the systems projecting the indicia on to a screen in juxtaposition and in proximity to a clear numerical indication of the basic price of the commodity. As shown in connection with an automatic weighing apparatus wherein the scale plate 4 is supported on a system of levers connected to pendulous resistants 22, 23, one resistant 22, actuates, by means of a ribbon 24, a shaft 26 carrying - a transparent disc 28. The transparent disc bears concentric rings of graduations the outer ring representing weights and the remaining rings representing price computations formed by the products of weight and basic price. A screened lens system 37 and lamp 33 are arranged to project an enlarged image of the price computation on to a fixed screen 29 preferably of satinised aluminium. The lens system and lamp are mounted on a carriage 34 movable by means of a handoperated shaft 45 so as to adjust the optical system radially of the transparent disc according to the basic price of the commodity. To enable the correct setting to be effected, the shaft 45 is geared to a basic price indication 49 viewed through a window 55. A spring plunger engaging holes 47a ensures accurate setting. The weight graduations on the transparent disc 28 are projected on to the screen 29 by a second but fixed optical system located parallel to the system 37. A pointer 28c on the transparent disc enables the zero position of the apparatus to be checked. Instead of indicating price computations, other computations may be indicated, such as weight increment multiples of the minor weighing range of the apparatus resulting from the addition of major weights.
